The Old Newburians' Association

CALLING ALL OLD NEWBURIANS!

Your Association needs YOU!

At the recent Annual General Meeting held on Sun 20th Jan 2019 the Association was left with the following Committee Vacancies:

 President

 Vice-President

Hon. Secretary

 Several Committee Member places

The Association cannot operate without our most important officers!

Patricia Ray (our Retiring President) was in office for 3 years

Janet Calloway was previously President for 2 years

Our Constitution states the President should hold office for a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 3 consecutive years. The Vice President can also hold office between 1 and 3 years.  Until these last few years it has always been possible to fill these positions with new people. It is quite unfair to ask Patricia and Janet to continue any longer in this position.

It is not too onerous a task being President and Vice-President. We normally have 4 Committee meetings each year in term time. They are usually held at the school in the evening (midweek). The President and Committee are often invited to attend special occasions at the school such as Remembrance Day Service, Founders Day and the sporting events, cricket, rugby, soccer, lacrosse and netball. The President also usually lays the wreath in Newbury on Remembrance Day and attends the service in St. Nicolas Church.

We also desperately need a President who would be an important figurehead for The Association and who will liaise with the school throughout the year.

So if you think you can help to take the Old Newburians’ Association forward and strengthen our position both in the school and with our members then please get in touch.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

 Kind Regards

Richard Sellwood (Hon. Membership Sec.) at membership@oldnewburians.co.uk

Newsletters and Spam Email

Recently I have sent out 2 Newsletters to all members who during the last year have completed and returned the GDPR Forms.

Although 98% of the Newsletters have been delivered to members, only a small percentage have been opened. This may, of course, have been deliberate but I know that many members have said that they have not received the newsletters. This is, quite possibly, due to the fact that the emails have ended up in a SPAM BOX, maybe on your computer, or in your on-line account SPAM BOX.

Please do check your SPAM BOXES. You may be able to put my email address into a safe senders list or simply (if spam is not a problem for you) change your settings to allow spam.

This will ensure you always get the newsletters.

I hope this helps.

NEW PAVILION IN BROWN’S MEADOW

St Bart’s has recently launched an appeal for donations towards building a new sports’ pavilion at Brown’s Meadow which will ensure that development of future young athletes and sports players can be championed more effectively for generations to come.

Details can be found in the attached recent issue of Bartholonews, the school’s magazine.

Donations can be made through The Good Exchange

and will be match funded by Greenham Trust

The school is keen to hear past students’ memories of Brown's Meadow and the sports they took part in there.  Please get in touch with Lucy Rumens at lrumens@stbarts.co.uk or post on the ONA Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/Old-Newburians-Association-239824186059022/
